WHO IS THE GREATEST AMONG US

Who Is The Greatest Amoung UsIf any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.  (John 12:26) What an encouraging verse! As we close out the month of June, I would like to talk again about Fathers. I am blessed with a wonderful husband who is an awesome Father to our 3 boys. In today’s society, it is not easy being a Father. With so much negativity towards men, it makes it hard to keep your head up. Even in the Christian circles, men are not looked at in a positive light. There is not a perfect man on this earth anymore, we are all flawed humans. As wives, we have a great role to fill. A role that can change the way our children treat others and more importantly, their future spouse. We have the opportunity to serve our husbands. This is a huge blessing we should bestow on our men.

You may think your husband does not deserve it, but none of us deserve anything, but to spend eternity in total separation from God. Thank God for His mercy and His grace. Our husbands do not have to deserve our servant’s heart.

A God fearing man is something to rejoice about!

So if you have one, count your blessings and look for ways to serve him. By serving him you are serving God. We are to do all things unto God. By serving him you encourage him. When you serve him in a loving way, you help him want to lavish his love on you. Being a servant is not a bad thing. It is the greatest thing we can achieve! Was not our Lord a servant while he lived here on earth? He served the rich, poor, filthy, and clean. He was the ultimate servant when he laid down his life on the cross for us.

By serving, we help our men want to serve also. It just does something to you when someone serves you. It does me! It makes me want to go do something kind for another person, or that person. It opens our heart to the Father’s heart and that is our aim in our life and marriage. We want the Father’s heart so that we may be His hands and feet and in our marriage, that is vital. The world today does not esteem being a servant, especially in relationships. It’s all about give and take, or what makes you feel good. But is that what we as Christ followers should be doing? No, we should serve in the good and bad. We should serve those who we think do deserve it, and those who we think don’t deserve it. Our husbands do deserve it; do it with joy and pleasure.

If you have a hard time serving your husband, begin to ask God to change you!

Sometimes things may hinder serving your husband, and you may or may not know what it is. Find out by asking the Father for His wisdom. He will show you just what He desires from you. If your husband does not love you the way that he should, pray for him. Pray God will do as he wishes for your man and to soften his heart. The best thing we can do for our husbands is pray for them. Always remember you both are flawed human beings that need grace, forgiveness, and mercy daily towards one another. There is no other way to make marriage work.

So if you want your husband to be a better Father, serve him in the ways he needs and desires. God will reward you for your servant’s heart.

Let’s take a moment to pray!

Lord, we thank You for our Father’s and what a blessing they are. Marriage is not easy, life is not easy. BUT with You we can this life how You desire. We pray that You would bless our husbands with wisdom and knowledge and favor. Help us to serve them as You wish and to love them as You wish. May we honor them and respect them. Even when it’s hard, help us to be obedient to Your Word concerning our role as wife. Empower us with your Spirit, Lord.

In Jesus Name, Amen

Building strong marriages together,
